Why Comic Rodeo exists
Local comic book stores are the heart of the hobby. They're where new collectors discover their first series, where regulars find their pull list, where signings and gaming nights and Free Comic Book Day happen. But finding them online has always been hard — Google Maps shows what's closest, but not what's good. Yelp covers everything. Most directories are stale.
Comic Rodeo is built around one idea: a focused, well-maintained directory of every comic book store in the United States, organized so that someone in any city can find every shop near them in under ten seconds.
How the directory is built
Listings come from a combination of public business data, owner submissions, and community corrections. Each shop record includes:
- Business name, address, phone, and website
- Business hours where available
- Geographic coordinates for accurate map placement
- A storefront photo when one is available
- Specialty tags (manga, vintage, gaming, graphic novels, etc.)
When a shop's details change, we accept submissions through our submit page and review them within a few business days.
Editorial principles
- Free and ad-light. Comic Rodeo is free for shoppers. We don't sell user data. Featured placement is editorially chosen, not paid for.
- Independent. We don't favor any chain or distributor. Every shop, big or small, gets the same listing fields.
- Verified before publishing. New submissions get a sanity check (does the address resolve? does the website load?) before appearing in the directory.
- Corrections welcome. If a shop's hours, address, or phone are wrong, email us and we'll fix it.
Who's behind it
Comic Rodeo is run by a small team of comic readers and collectors who got tired of bouncing between Google Maps, Yelp, and outdated forum threads to find shops. The site is independent and self-funded. Editorial and technical work is done in-house.
