Finding Comic Shops

How do I find comic shops near me?

Use our directory to browse by state and city, or use the search bar to find shops by name. Each listing includes the store address, phone number, and a link to Google Maps for directions.

Are all comic shops in the US listed here?

We have over 3,600 comic book stores listed across all 50 states. While we strive to be comprehensive, some newer or smaller shops may not be listed yet. Shop owners can submit their stores for inclusion.

How often is the directory updated?

Our directory is regularly updated with new shops and corrections. Business hours and contact information are verified periodically to ensure accuracy.

Can I submit my comic shop to be listed?

Yes! We welcome submissions from comic shop owners. Visit our Submit Your Shop page to add your store to the directory.

Visiting Comic Shops

What should I expect at my first comic shop visit?

Comic shops are welcoming places for fans of all experience levels. Staff are usually happy to help newcomers find series to start with, explain pull lists, and answer questions about collecting.

What is a pull list?

A pull list is a subscription service offered by most comic shops. You tell the shop which series you want, and they set aside new issues for you each week. This ensures you never miss an issue of your favorite comics.

Do comic shops only sell comics?

While comics are the focus, many shops also carry graphic novels, manga, trade paperbacks, collectibles, action figures, gaming cards, and related merchandise.

When do new comics come out?

New comics traditionally release on Wednesdays, known as "New Comic Book Day" or NCBD. Some shops may have special midnight releases for major events.

Collecting Comics

How do I start collecting comics?

Start by finding a series or character you love. Visit your local shop, tell them what you enjoy, and they can recommend starting points. Many modern series have "jumping on" points designed for new readers.

Are comic books a good investment?

While some comics become valuable, most should be collected for enjoyment rather than investment. Key issues, first appearances, and limited variants can appreciate, but the market is unpredictable.

How should I store my comics?

Use acid-free bags and backing boards, store comics upright in comic boxes, keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Check out our Comic Storage Guide for detailed tips.

What does grading mean for comics?

Grading is a professional assessment of a comic's condition on a scale from 0.5 to 10. Services like CGC and CBCS grade and encapsulate comics. Higher grades typically mean higher value for key issues.
